Paid freelance work exclusively for Alpha Team members.
Missions are paid contract assignments for Alpha Team members. First, you send a short proposal. Then we read it and reach out with questions. If there’s a fit, you take the mission, paid at your rate, working alongside the team.
Missions are not job applications. If you want a full-time role, visit our open roles page.
Pick a mission and send a short proposal.
Apply to the Alpha Team first. We keep missions inside the Alpha Team by design, because the people who have already backed what we’re building are the ones we want helping us build it.
6 missions are open today. Filter by discipline, or read them all. Every one is paid at your rate and ends with something shipped.
You take about 400 SimplyCodes promo codes to real merchant checkouts, record what each one did with a screenshot, and hand us a sealed answer key. We use that key to grade our verification machine, so the people who write it can't be the people who run the machine.
We want to know how many of the working promo codes on rival coupon sites SimplyCodes also has. We've designed the experiment and frozen a panel of about 500 merchants, but nobody has run it yet. You collect the codes rival sites list, by hand, check them against our verification results, and calculate the share we also serve, with error bars.
You find 10 developers who build shopping agents and interview each one about what they'd build with verified promo code data, which tools they'd call first, and what would stop them. You write up each interview, and we pay per completed interview.
You and our content lead take one data study from question to publication. We give you an aggregate dataset from real promo code tests and a shortlist of questions. You pick the story, do the analysis, and write it up with your methods shown. We publish it on our site with your name next to ours.
Our test team rates answers in our shopping chat, and a classifier sorts each rating into 1 of 7 jobs. Nobody has checked its work. You read every record yourself, decide what each tester was trying to do, and hand us a better set of job families with the records behind each one.
You recruit 8 to 10 developers who build shopping agents and sit with each one while they connect to the live SimplyCodes agent server from their own tools. You time how long it takes, then ask what they'd build, what they'd pay for, and what would make them stop calling. We pay per completed session.
The same application covers it. Pick “My own idea,” tell us what you would build and why it belongs in the verification layer for commerce, and a fit becomes a paid mission.
A short written proposal on how you understand the mission and how you would approach it, plus your resume or LinkedIn profile.
We read your proposal and reach out with questions. No test and no exercise.
We agree the scope and send a contractor agreement at your rate.
Kickoff in Santa Monica for setup, then remote work alongside the team. Something ships at the end.
These are the things that tend to come up during a mission, said plainly so neither of us is surprised.
The team starts on the work and writes up what it learned afterward. If you strongly prefer the other order, you will feel under-supported here.
We care about the system underneath a surface as much as the surface itself. A beautiful artifact that does not work from the mechanics underneath does not do well here.
If we scoped the mission wrong, we would rather hear it in week 1 than receive exactly what we asked for.
Claude Code or Claude Co-work, plus whatever else you need. We will get into why when we talk.
It takes about a page. Missions are for Alpha Team members. If you are not one yet, apply to the Alpha Team first. Apply on the open roles page if you’re looking for a full-time opportunity.
