Head of Core Operations

Colin Hurd

Head of Core Operations · Product.ai

Owns the operations the whole company runs on: the office, IT and access, and vendors and spend, and is building out HR operations and contractor administration into the same system. He turns each one into a documented system anyone can run, instead of knowledge that lives in one person’s head.

25 years building workplace and real-estate operations at Asana, Segment, Twilio, and Gigamon — global scope, every time. He is in Los Angeles by choice, and he told us he wants to finish his career building one company.

About

He builds the connective tissue between functions that do not naturally talk to each other — and writes it down so it outlives him.

25 years in workplace and real-estate operations, from an operations manager role in 2001 to global head of the function at four companies
Global head of real estate and workplace at Segment, then Twilio after the acquisition; before that, global head of employee office experience at Asana for more than four years
Most recently Director, Global Real Estate & Workplace at Gigamon
His own account of the method: standing cadences with documented action items, dated and owned, so functions that do not naturally talk stay in sync — a practice he traces to building the first such cadence, between Workplace, IT, HR, and Finance, at SAP Labs, where none had existed before
Range beyond the office: budget and contract management, vendor and facilities management, physical security, event operations, and onboarding systems design
San Diego State University BS in Business Management and Behavioral Sciences; Certificate in Facilities Management, CSU East Bay; ISO 14001 certified in environmental management systems

The arc

Head of Core Operations

Owns the company’s core operations — office, IT and access, and vendors and spend — and is building out HR operations and contractor administration into the same documented system. The seat exists so the whole surface runs on process the team can rely on, rather than institutional memory living in one person’s head. Joined Product.ai in August 2026.

First owner of the full core-ops surface

Gigamon

Director, Global Real Estate & Workplace

Ran the global real-estate and workplace function at a deep-observability infrastructure company — the portfolio, the vendors, and the standards behind them.

2021 → 2023 · Twilio

Twilio

Global Head of Strategic Real Estate & Workplace Projects

Carried the strategic real-estate and workplace project portfolio through the years when Twilio’s footprint was being actively reshaped — arriving with the Segment acquisition and staying to run the combined program.

2019 → 2021 · Segment

Segment (acquired by Twilio)

Global Head of Real Estate & Workplace Operations

Owned real estate and workplace operations globally through Segment’s scale-up years and into its acquisition by Twilio.

Through the Twilio acquisition

2014 → 2019 · Asana

Asana

Global Head of Employee Office Experience

More than four years owning the employee office experience globally at Asana — the role closest in shape to this seat: the whole lived experience of the workplace, not just the real estate under it.

2001 → 2014 · SAP Labs → SunPower → Responsys

SAP Labs · SunPower · Responsys

Operations Manager → Director → Global Head

The thirteen years that built the discipline: operations manager, then Director of Real Estate & Facilities for the Americas at SAP Labs; global head of real estate and site services at SunPower; then global head of real estate and facilities at Responsys through its acquisition by Oracle. The SAP Labs years are where the cross-functional cadence he still runs was first built.

The through-line

25 years of walking into companies where the operations function did not exist yet and leaving behind something documented enough that the next person could run it. That is the job here, pointed at every core operation the company has.
